This was the best way to spend my summer. I think this program really helped me discover my true self. I hope other girls get to experience this, even if it’s only for one week. It definitely helps you with self-esteem and you make new friends in a safe environment. I am so happy I did this and I would do it again in a second.
Love, Janelle

“Can I Climb Aboard as a Stow-Away?”
e understand your desire to be a teenager again so that you can participate. And, you still can! Through sponsorship programming, Sisters Under Sail works closely with individual families, communities and youth organizations to support bright teenage girls who lack financial opportunity. Large scale success is experienced when we can partner with organizations that can help to identify the high-potential teens and match them with sponsorship dollars. Many times, deserving families simply find us. Either way, we’ve made headlines and changed lives, but we could do so much more for this under-represented population.

Hello,
I have a daughter that I think would be a great candidate for this program. However, it is a little out of our budget range. Do you offer any scholarships or partial scholarships to girls that otherwise cannot afford something like this?
Thanks for any info you may have for me.
Wendy from Oregon
Sisters Under Sail, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) Corporation, has put nearly 400 teenage girls at the helm in the past five sold out summers. Many of these teenagers came aboard via youth organizations such as Girl Scouts of USA and Boys and Girls Club of America. Others, similar to Wendy’s daughter, have joined us through the generous support of community and corporate partners as well as individual donors.
Generous sponsors share our goal for this affinity group - to broaden their perspective of their world. The program clearly builds confidence and furthers their belief in the value of sisters working together, but it also helps them to see outside the box and reach deep within themselves to see their own potential, courage and tenacity.

This voyage has been a wonderful experience. I have discovered myself with the help of 5 other marvelous girls who made the same passage. They have become my friends. Thank you Ms. Dawn for giving me the opportunity to be on your ship and for guiding me through my self discovery. You are truly an angel. God bless you, your family and your wonderful crew. Your boat makes miracles.

Pursuit of Happiness
"I accomplished the unthinkable, I went on the head rig to flake the sails. One of the deckhands, Tami, said that I did a good job. I was very impressed with myself. I approached it as if I had done it before, because I didn’t want to show fear. The feeling was like a sugar rush flowing through my body, butterflies in my stomach, proudness running through my mind."
